You can apply only by downloading and filling out the application form. We also need a letter of recommendation from one of your teachers. After completing the recommendation form, the teacher should return it to the student sealed in a separate envelope. Student should take the envelope and send it together (in one envelope!) with the hard copy of the application form. The letter of recomendation may be written in English or Croatian.

The letter of recommendation should not be read by the student being recommended!

Application is considered complete only when we recieve ALL of the following:

1. Application form in the electronic form e-mailed to summerschoolofscience AT gmail DOT com
2. Hard copy of the application form (signed by one of your parents) and a letter of recommendation from one of your teachers. Hard copy should be sent to the following address:

SELECTION PROCEDURE

All applications will be reviewed by the school organizers and a certain number of applicants will be selected for the interviews. The advantage is given to students who can benefit the most from the School, since usually there are more good applicants than available places. Therefore, it is of great importance to write a good motivation letter! (See How to write a motivation letter). Interviews will be conducted by telephone on the 15th of May 2010 (Saturday). Students will be notified by E-mail about the exact hour of the interview. Interviews are conducted to asses student's proficiency in English and his/her personal motivation. Final selection will be announced in the following week.

We believe that each applicant who has expressed an interest in science should be given the opportunity to develop professionally. However, due to lack of resources, we cannot place all interested students in one of our camps. Therefore, if you were not selected, it doesn't mean you were not good enough and you can always try next year. We still want to maintain contact with you and to offer you guidance when neded. Just by applying to the School, you are entitled to become a member of S³Net, our on-line community portal (in Croatian). There you can communicate with us, ask questions about science and careers in science, and be informed about many science-related events.

PAYMENT AND SCHOLARSHIPS

Successful applicants are required to pay a fee before the School starts. Details about payment and how to qualify for a scholarship are available here.

TIME MANAGEMENT OF YOUR APPLICATION

Plan your application well in advance, since it takes time to write a good motivation letter and your teacher might be busy and need time to write a recommendation letter. Applicants from Croatia can apply for a scholarship, but in order to qualify, they have to make an effort to look for a sponsor. You need to take that into account when planning how long it takes to submit the application.

The electronic form must be E-mailed before the deadline. Hard copy of the application can arrive later but it must bear a postal stamp with the date before May 1st.
