Practical Information
ARRIVAL & LOCATION
Summer School of Science is located in Visnjan, a village and municipality in Croatian peninsula Istria. Village, with a population of 625, has a post office, church, grocery shops, restaurant and two caffes. Visnjan Observatory has a 24h fast Internet connection.

Visnjan is located 12 km from the coast, east from Porec, and on the exit from the highway. It is connected with Porec by a bus operating 2-3 times a day. Porec is well connected by bus lines to all major cities in Croatia, Slovenia and Trieste (Italy). If you come by train, get off in Pazin, Pula or Rijeka and take a bus to Porec. For those who wish to fly, the closest airports are in Pula, Trieste and Rijeka.
Note: Bear in mind that the school takes place during the busy tourist season, so book a bus or plane seat early. Inform us on the exact time of your arrival once you know it.

FOOD AND ACCOMODATION
Participants sleep in rooms with multiple beds, in a dormitory near the observatory and the local elementary school. The dormitory also has a kitchen, where the breakfast is prepared each morning by the participants themselves. Lunch and dinner are taken in a nearby restaurant.
Note: If you are a vegetarian, or have other special food requirements, please notify the school organizers in advance.
WHAT TO BRING
Bring warm clothes for possible work during the night. Hiking shoes and sunscreen are good to take for the field trip. Mosquito repelent might come handy as well. Clean sheets are provided, but you should bring your own towels. The washing machine will not be available. Some participants bring their own calculators, digital cameras and laptops - but they are not required.
IMPORTANT:
If you have a medical condition (like allergies or any other chronic condition), make sure you bring enough medication and notify the organizers in advance!
